To be clear I think his brand of conservatism is horrible and actively harmful to millions.
But at least it sets the goalposts at opposing fascism and racism.
Sad to say it, but that is more that can be said for most Republican electeds, including Ryan and McConnell.

The press reaction to Flake bothers me less than the reaction to folks like Portman and Grassley who somehow enjoy reputations as independent-minded senators despite being active, aggressive partisan hacks and warriors devoid of meaningful independence.
