I know some children are taken away because of bullshit reasons, but more are taken away from parents and caregivers because of intergenerational trauma.

People often say the platitude, hurt people hurt people.
In my experience, hurt people usually really only mean to hurt themselves. Those actions, in turn hurt others. The effects are indirect but meaningful for the people who love the person

So we say, "intergenerational trauma," and you say, how could genocide, assimilation, boarding schools, (insert old policy here), hurt someone today?
That's how. The trauma of the past doesn't just end with the generation experiencing the initial traumatic event(s)

They pass it on to their children and so on and so forth. I know a lot of parents who say, I grew up like that, so I do it to my kids.
It doesn't have to be that way. Those of us that recognize it need to break the cycle of trauma and heal ourselves for our kids

You are important. You have a purpose or many purposes to carry out on this earth. You are not disposable. People do love you, they are just too hurt to care for you. You will be loved by others

Most importantly, you are not alone. Many people have been through what you have been through, whatever that is. It helps to find others who have been through the same or even just a friendly ear.
I'm really sick of racists saying, "take care of your kids," like in the comments to the video.
