You need to use your noggin' mate. *Especially* in the current localisation climate, a company releasing a bad translation is worse for the consumer if only because it removes the possibility that a good translation could potentially be done officially
*Especially* in the current climate, it's not a matter of "if they don't do it no-one will!" but instead it's "eventually someone will!". The pool of eroge that are actually likely to licensed soon is quite small, so for "big" titles like C+C, it's not a matter of if, but when
Claiming people should be grateful for the turd being shovelled into their mouths because otherwise they'd get no food at all is essentially a fallacy in any growing, competitive localisation market
and it is competitive, as can be seen by companies parking their asses on licences seemingly only to prevent their opponents from getting licences or forming working partnerships with brands/labels etc.
Companies may or may not be turning a profit (something I'd dispute as for particular companies if they aren't then they're just outright incompetent), but regardless they have cashflow opponents, and manage to stay operating. i.e. the market is competitive and booming
On another note, I suspect more than a few translations in the visual novel scene are rushed out with little effort, care or resources to appease consumers (because making releases appeases the weak and feeble here, lets be real) and capture working partnerships with brands
Having made such a claim, a lot of it is probably just down to management not caring about what they're doing. I've heard more than a few anecdotes about higher-ups just straight up ignoring ideas and offers from passionate people under their employ for fuck all reason
which, if it isn't obvious (it should be), is just bad business. If you go around doing that you should probably be re-evaluating your life because you aren't even doing the soulless capitalist dirtbag bit properly...
Anyway, if you think another company wasn't ready to pounce on something like C+C to do a good job on it you're out of your mind, basically.
Even if it wasn't going to happen immediately, it was simply a matter of time.
Supporting bad translations out of desperation is a pathetic relic of a forgotten era and only serves to fill the wallets of those who couldn't care less about the consumer or are incapable of maintaining the quality they would need to actually be competitive in terms of quality
