Eerste eis aan een blockchain startup: "dat hun white paper, one pager en animatie goed voorbereid is."

Tweede eis: "Dat ze goed nadenken over de samenstelling van hun team."
Derde eis: "Ze moeten zorgen voor een community"
Vierde eis: "...goed nadenken over de haalbaarheid van hun project."
Toch blij dat dat nog ergens genoemd wordt.
Oh, en bovenal natuurlijk: "In ieder geval is het altijd verstandig dat ze ons advies vragen."

Gut!

Na die lijst eisen zou ik het toch nog even heroverwegen.
Fantastisch plan, overigens.

1. Geld aannemen van wie een ICO wil opzetten
2. Geld aannemen op je eigen ICO
3. Geld aannemen op de personen die in ICOs willen investeren
4. Na listen van coins de "crowd" laten selecteren zodat je kunt claimen dat jij niet kiest.
Oh en bovenal niemand, NIEMAND, met enige achtergrond in blockchain engineering in je team hebben.

Nee, dit wordt een winnaar...

I get the distinct impression that some Open Source people new to the field are confusing trademarks and copyright issues.

Trademarks are distinct and very much not against Open Source. They are a completely different tool.
Copyrights limit the use of tools: you are expressly prohibited from using or building on someone's work, thereby stifling innovation and invention.

Trademarks are about correctly labelled products, which allow users to verify whether it's OK.
You can make the same product, yet not be allowed to call it by the same name.

You can also create a better iteration, but still not be able to call it by the same name.

If it gains traction, the name is moot anyway.

Just putting aside the fact that they are not sustainable (look to @prestonjbyrne for more analysis on that front), they open up a huge can of surveillance possibilities on your money that are less intrusive when not using them.
I'd rather NOT give any info to an unknown entity in order to get at my value, thank you very much.

The fact that PR firms exists shows the second is right.
It is very easy to hurt people with just words, and they certainly do not need to lead to violence.

Your reputation can be harmed by words, just as it can be bolstered.
Thoughts and words are free and rightly protected.

However, to use that as an argument that words are therefore “harmless” is a logical fallacy.

If anything, it shows they *do* have power and therefore that power needs to be acknowledged.

Just had quite an interesting experience with @verisart's #blockchain for securing authenticity certificate, provenance, and other metadata around a recent purchase of art that I made, and now have a few thoughts to document for later reflection. 1/
First, while my honest initial impression was "huh, shame that someone's gone and blockchained something as pure as art as part of this DAPP money grab," it is in the end quite nice to have a cert ostensibly locked in, & useful if I ever decide to sell it, give as a gift, etc. 2/
That said, there are some hiccups along the way that need to be kept in mind when trying to convince people to flow with this "Don't want to trust humans? Easy, just trust #blockchain and peripheral technology [that was developed by humans]!" cognitive dissonance. 3/

Ok thread #blockchain. Une blockchain = un registre open, décentralisé, vérifiable, insupressible, dont l'intégrité est garantie pke impossible à altérer. Chq nvel ajout est vérifié par un gd nb de personnes indépendantes. Dc : registre impiratable, inconfisquable, incensurable.
Principal challenge technique : permettre une haute fréquence d'écriture dans la blockchain (sachant que tte nouvelle inscription doit être validée par plusieurs personnes). Permettra le suivi fiable de n'importe quel flux de data en le rendant fiable et incontestable.
Si on arrive à cette "haute fréquence", ttes les industries voudront basculer l'enregistrement de leurs flux sur une blockchain, pr éradiquer les risques d'erreurs / malversations, et réduire les coûts d'intermédiaires => des 100aines de milliards d'économies à réaliser.
