The inquest into the immigration detainee's death will consider whether the Home Secretary's actions may have caused or contributed to the death. Rudd wanted to deport a key witness before the inquest and a separate criminal investigation have taken place.
"A high court judge ruled against Rudd, ordering that Van Horn be allowed to remain in UK because he may be required to give evidence at the inquest into death of a fellow detainee, and Home Office had not offered assurances he would be allowed to return to UK to give evidence".
