Vu que @emma_ducros souligne "l'inculture" de ceux qui déboulonnent la statue de Christophe Colomb, il paraît utile (ou nécessaire) de rappeler quelques vérités à son sujet. Spoiler alert : ce n'était pas quelqu'un de sympathique. Petit thread ⬇️ !
NB : il ne s’agit pas de « justifier » le déboulonnage des statues de Colomb : les historiens n’ont pas à dire aux sociétés que faire du passé. Mais il faut savoir qui sont ces personnes que certains viennent défendre bec et ongles, et donc défaire les mythes et les clichés...

Bon ça commence à bien faire cette histoire autour de la statue de #Colbert. Franchement, beaucoup d'hypocrisie encore une fois sur ce sujet de la part des élus de la République (et pas seulement eux). D'abord ces statues sont des moulages (les originaux ont été remisés en 1989)
Ensuite, qu'est-ce que des ministres de l'Ancien Régime viennent faire sur la façade de l'Assemblée nationale ? Pour le dire autrement, pourquoi des figures du pouvoir Exécutif (et pas n'importe lequel) gardent la porte du pouvoir Législatif ? C'est ça la Rép du 49.3 me direz-vs.
Où sont les statues de Mirabeau, de Camus, de Siéyès, de Robespierre, etc. ? Il y en a bien quelques-unes, à l'intérieur du palais. Mais même là, le programme iconographique reste assez déroutant également. Et ce n'est pas @Ugobernalicis qui me contredira sur ce point...

The world does not owe us a living, We have to work for it and work hard. We have to live within our means, while at the same time improving our prospects through investments in education, health, welfare so that each year we grow richer, stronger, healthier.
We grow richer only by being more productive. That means, in simple terms we produce for each worker more this year than we did last year. Productivity growth is everything.
