A Dalit student I taught 2 years ago was working part time as a Swiggy delivery executive. He was raised by a single mother who took loans to put him through an undergraduate degree.
On the day he wrote his final exam, he had a confirmed job in security management at Bengaluru Airport. They'd told him he could come whenever he wanted. But his mother insisted he finish his degree so he could have something to fall back on, in case this job didn't stick.
He had several supplementary exams to give which he is still clearing one by one while continuing to hold that job.
If the #NEP is implemented, the first casualty, like always, will be the Dalit & Adivasi students. By taking away their right to hold a triple- major degree, you are making it easier for TataBirlaMallyaByju type people to hijack their labour and pay them shit. #StopNEP
Secondly, Ashwath Narayan & crew have devised the #NEP only by rote-learning Savarna catchphrases like 'technical skills', 'global competence', 'holistic', & 'nuance'. If anything, it shows their incompetence with words & a failure to grasp the diversity in student community.
Thirdly, thousands of language and other teachers might lose their jobs IN THE PANDEMIC. Colleges, teachers, & students are NOT prepared to jump ship suddenly in the middle of the academic year.

Chaired the 51st meeting of the Executive Board of National Council for Promotion of Urdu Language (NCPUL) today.
Expressed my satisfaction about the progress made in the promotion of the Urdu language. Many efforts have been made to improve the promotion of Urdu language since 2014, in comparison to the period between 2009-2014.
During 2009-2014, Rs 193.83 crores were sanctioned to NCPUL. However, during 2015-2020, Rs 402.56 crores have been sanctioned. During 2009-2014, there were just 1066 centres offering one year diploma in Urdu language. During 2015-2020, that number went up to 1423.

Imagine an Indian education system geared to transmission of knowledge and natural apprenticeship-based learning.
This is an adaptation to State's #EnglishApartheid, where a child cannot learn to be a doctor in their language and serve their village.

I've been fighting for this for years, but the ones in power have turned a deaf year. Change can happen but the govt is itself obsessed with English. Even the #NEP has no focus on professional education in #IndianLanguages.
Instead what does our system do? It tell the child he or she cannot be a doctor using #IndianLanguages. To be a doctor one must go to medical school, which is only in English. One must spend lakhs and get "certified." And after that the doctor must charge lakhs to recover that.
The new regulatory system envisioned by #NEP will foster an overall culture of empowerment and autonomy to innovate, by gradually phasing out the system of ‘affiliated colleges’ over a period of 15 years through a system of graded autonomy.

Each existing affiliating university will be responsible for mentoring its affiliated colleges so that they can achieve minimum benchmarks in academic & curricular matters; teaching & assessment; governance reforms; financial robustness; & administrative efficiency.

All colleges currently affiliated to a university shall attain the required benchmarks overtime to secure the prescribed accreditation benchmarks and eventually become autonomous degree-granting colleges.

The implementation plan of #NEP is under preparation with due consultation with various stakeholders. The actual implementation will be carried out as per the timelines envisaged in NEP. #NEPTransformingIndia
The National Curriculum Framework for School Education being prepared by the @ncert will clearly define these modalities. The NCFSE is expected by the end of 2021. #NEPTransformingIndia
Further, TETs will be strengthened & will also be extended to cover teachers across all stages of school #education. #NEP states that each teacher will be expected to participate in at least 50 hours of CPD opportunities every year for their own professional development.

National Curriculum Framework prepared by the #NCERT will clearly define the modalities, keeping in view the #NEP recommendations that Board exams be redesigned to encourage holistic development. #NEPTransformingIndia
Students will be able to choose any of the subjects in which they take #Board exams, depending on their individualized interests. Board exams will also be made ‘easier,’ in the sense that they will test core capacities/competencies primarily. #NEPTransformingIndia
To further eliminate the ‘high stakes’ aspect of #Board Exams, all students will be allowed to take Board Exams on up to two occasions during any given school year, one main examination and one for improvement, if desired. #NEPTransformingIndia

As per #NEP, the Board of Governors (BoG) shall be established consisting of a group of highly qualified, competent, & dedicated individuals with proven capabilities and a strong sense of commitment to the institution. #NEPTransformingIndia

Early Childhood Care and Education (age 3 to 6) will be an integral part of School Education under #NEP2020. #NEPTransformingIndia
#ECCE will be provided in stand-alone Anganwadis; Anganwadis co-located with primary schools; pre-primary schools/sections covering at least age 5 to 6 years co-located with existing primary schools; and stand-alone pre-schools. #NEPTransformingIndia

Given that people exercise pluralistic choices in #healthcare, the #education system must be integrative, meaning that all students of allopathic medical education must have basic understanding of Ayurveda, Yoga & Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, & Homeopathy (AYUSH), & vice versa.

An exhaustive consultation process was ensured while drafting #NEP2020, which included putting up the first draft of the policy in the public domain for inputs & comments from all sections of society from 26.1.2015 to 31.10.2015.
