As reported by @nytimes and @wsj, PSY-Group, an Israeli company with ties to Israeli Defense Forces (IDF), partnered with Cambridge Analytica to solicit business from the U.S. government after influencing the 2016 election.

Here's how PSY imitated Americans on social media:
PSY-Group used Facebook to hire American English speakers with political science backgrounds, suggesting that they intended to target Americans for political objectives.
PSY-Group employees also posted job ads on their personal Facebook profiles, including at least one employee, Eitan Charnoff, who was previously the IDF Commander of the Social Media Productions Desk.
It appears Eitan Charnoff is also the National Director of iVoteIsrael, a Republican-aligned Israeli-American voter registration group: blogs.timesofisrael.com/author/eitan-c…
iVoteIsrael's non-partisan tax status was called into question based on its deep ties to Republican donors and politcial operatives thedailybeast.com/the-partisansh…
So what type of activity did PSY-Group conduct based on these recruiting efforts? A PSY-Group briefing released by @wsj referenced the Twitter account @Joe_America1776 on a slide about using Twitter bots to manipulate public perception.
is still active, and has posted over 563,000 times since the account was created in July of 2015. That's an average of around 514 tweets *per day*, every day, for three years.
We looked for accounts that have been consistently and aggressively amplifying @Joe_America1776's posts on other social media platforms, which led us to Mari [redacted], a likely fake Facebook account.
Turns out "Mari" is impersonating another account with the same name. Looks like fake Mari friended the real Mari, stole Mari's photos, and used those photos to make the fake account seem more legitimate.
And let's not forget "Kris Crawford," a Facebook account PSY-Group used in their pitch to demonstrate their social media manipulation capabilities.
Kris looks like an everyday American who loves fast cars and the Dallas Cowboys. But according to the account's URL, it used to belong to "Martina Jakimovska"
Looking through the "Kris Crawford's" account history it's still possible to see when Martina updated her profile photo and used Facebook to check in at a location in Macedonia.
These accounts were hijacked, interfered with the us election, and are still active. @facebook @twitter do these accounts belong to PSY-Group?
