2/ I've never heard of Alex, but I know that—as I said in my thread—Chuck is a propagandist, not a journalist. Propaganda is journalism-adjacent—so it's easy to be confused. It also means Chuck may *not* know what "lede" means or how an article uses one. If not, apologies to him.
3/ But I don't want Chuck's journalism-adjacent, propagandistic research/writing techniques to confuse any young, aspiring journalists reading this feed. So know this: a "lede" is not something absent from your headline that appears only twice—in passing—in a 46-paragraph story.
4/ America is a free country—you can choose, as Chuck has, to be a journalism-adjacent propagandist if you like. I'd advise you not to do that—but you *are* free to do it. What I won't allow is for non-journalists like Chuck to misinform people genuinely interested in journalism.
5/ At professional media outlets, lede-burying like what we saw from @ChuckRossDC on one of the biggest news stories of the year—that the FBI thinks one of Trump's top NatSec advisors was a secret Israeli agent—would get you fired or at least suspended. Not at propaganda outlets.
6/ What I *don't* get—or I do, but don't *want* to get—is why left- or right-wing propagandists called out for what they've done then use selectively edited images of the Twitter thread that called them out to prove they're *not* dishonest. It's assuming their readers are stupid.
