I recently created an African map specifically meant for Kenyans. It's a guide that highlights how easy and hard it is for Kenyans to travel to all African countries.
This guide was inspired by @funmioyatogun who previously did the same for her Nigerian family. (A Thread)
I considered visa requirements, my own travel experience, flight connections from Nairobi and countries' diplomatic representation in Kenya. With this in mind, I rated countries, EASY, SLIGHTLY HARD and DIFFICULT. Link to details; justrioba.com/the-ultimate-g…
The easiest countries to visit are coloured green. This means as a Kenyan, you literally just show up to the countries with just your passport and in some cases a yellow fever certificate, get stamped and you are free to roam the countries.
Some of the countries include Tanzania, Uganda, Burundi, Namibia, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Malawi, Mozambique, Botswana. A Kenyan can easily walk into these countries with no visa/border stress. Basically, crossing East and Southern borders overland is very easy with a Kenyan passport.
Did you know as if you have the time and strength you can cross Uganda, Rwanda & Burundi Overland? No visa required?
Same goes for TZ, Malawi, Mozambique, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Namibia, Botswana & South Africa. YUP! These borders are doable by road and you will only need a visa to SA
I know this because in 2016, I travelled alone through TZ, Malawi, Zambia, Namibia and Zim by road. In March, I travelled through Uganda, Rwanda and Burundi by road. I emphasize that as a Kenyan, crossing this borders by road is a walk in the park. Distance is the only challenge
There are tonnes of other easy countries I have highlighted green since the flight connections are fine and we get in visa-free or visa on arrival. Djibouti, Ethiopia, Lesotho, Swaziland and South Africa are some of them.
In West Africa, Kenyans can travel to Nigeria and get a visa on arrival. Upon getting a visa on arrival in Nigeria, you can road trip to Benin, Togo and Ghana 'visa' free these countries are so close to each other you do not need to fly.
The visa-free is in quotes because going by the books, Kenyans do not require a visa to Benin, Togo and Ghana but our west African borders do not recognize visa-free status for shit.

The way the borders are set up, most travellers have to pay something to get in
West African borders have this concept called 'virgin passport' haha. It even feels ridiculous typing this but it is what it is. So as a traveller, if you are crossing the borders overland for the first time, your passport is basically a virgin and you have to pay to get stamped
So if you are considering travelling to West Africa overland, they do not recognize your visa-free status. Your virgin ass passport may have to pay up. See why I said crossing East and Southern African borders overland is easier?
Moving on, difficult countries to get in are highlighted in red like Equatorial Guinea and Mauritania. These countries require Kenyans to have a visa prior to travelling although they don't have diplomatic representation in Kenya. Some have bad flight connections from Kenya.
But the hardest of them all is Eritrea. Eritrea is a special case. Some have deemed it as the North Korea of Africa. First of all, unless you are Ugandan, you do need to get a visa, a process that can take months before your application is processed. Following closely is Chad.
Anyway, I hope this map will motivate you to travel to your African dream destination. If you have any relevant info that you'd like me to add, don't hesitate to share. Otherwise, catch the full details on justrioba.com
Again. Special special out to @funmioyatogun I wouldn't have done this were it not for your inspiration and motivation. Keep it up! 🙌 🙌
The END 😊
