1. I want to share a few memories of growing up in Annapolis reading The Capital.

People forget how central the local paper was to life before the internet.

It was the only form of media you could really interact with
2. The Capital used to have a sports columnist named Joe Gross. He'd make his football picks every week and then there was a section you could cut out, make your own picks, and send them to the paper.

If you did better, they sent you a bumper sticker that said I BEAT GROSS
3. When I was in the 5th grade a kid in my class, Tommy, applied for a credit card at a bank. He filled it out completely accurately and was issued a card.

The Capital did a huge write up with a big photo of Tommy with the card. He was a celebrity. It was cool.
4. When I was in high school The Capital wrote an article about a political campaign that I disagreed with. I typed up a letter to the editor and sent it off.

The owner of the paper at the time called me at my house, told me I was totally wrong, but he would run it anyway.
5. When I ran for state delegate in 2010, The Capital endorsed me in the general election. I went to their offices for a group interview.

They also endorsed many extremely conservative Republicans.
