One remarkable thing about the AOC victory and aftermath: many Dems have been celebrating as though a Republican was defeated. The party has traditionally been ambivalent about primaries even against ideologically out-of-step members, like Lieberman, or corrupt ones. No more.
Crowley wasn't a centrist, let alone a conservative. He sponsored the Conyers single payer bill last year. But he is a very conventional politician not known for a vision or personal identity that might give liberal observers of the race mixed feelings about his defeat.
To me, this is the part of NY14 that might be scariest for Cuomo, who is running on the premise that whatever distaste Democrats might feel for his tactics or personality, he has delivered on policy in big ways. Dems care a lot right now about tactics, attitude & big money.
