/ Trying out a new crypto curation format: Long Reads Sunday. Combination of articles + Twitter threads, which are the Russian nesting dolls of community insight. China blockchain court cases, global crypto ownership, secondary security token issues and more. Thread 👇
/ Here is a fire thread from @Melt_Dem on the impact a (theoretical) forced liquidation for crypto funds could have on the market. Most interesting question is the liquidity crunch that happens when most funds hold positions in the same projects.
/ One of the week's smartest essays was @_jillruth’s “Free Company” on @TokenDaily. Talent wants to be organized as distributed, mostly-autonomous networks of specialization. Doesn't make sense to service decentralized projects in a centralized way. tokendaily.co/blog/free-comp…
/ Many blockchain projects are built around immutability, such as making the province of creative works clear. @katherineykwu of @messaricrypto translated this Chinese court case which validates blockchain data as evidence in a case about IP infringement.
/ No lie: @m2jr’s post on the Crypto Commons is a must read. The essay is an argument that the real impact of distributed tech isn’t alternatives to things today but possibilities that didn’t exist before. Look for the term “Governance Markets” much more. medium.com/@m2jr/crypto-c…
/ @naval calmly tried to part the Red Sea between BTC maximalists and smart contract platform believers. His Tweet forked into a hundred great discussions, including this exchange including @paulsbohm at whether value accrues only to SoV tokens
/ This week’s #Zcon0 was a bonanza of interesting stuff at the heart of crypto network governance. The convo around @zcashco Founders Reward is reflective of larger question of just how different crypto economies are from traditional for profit startups?
/ Re: the real-life implications of crypto outside US, @cburniske wrote that crypto owners will outnumber stock holders, referencing @jmonegro’s recent trip to Brazil. @jarroddicker chimed in that global contractors already prefer to be paid in crypto.
/ For those interested in tokenized securities, this thread from @NadavAHollander of @dharmaprotocol goes deep on one of the key questions: restrictions on secondary market trading of an asset type that comes with ownership/governance implications.
/ And finally, if you really want to deep dive with your morning coffee, tuck in for @nic__carter’s summarization of “Democracy is not a truth machine.” Money quote:
/ What else was must read this week? What should we add to this list?
/ How about a brutal list of things we do that hold the space back by @coinfund_al? Serves as a call to maturity for those who care about the possibilities for crypto. h/t to @sarthakgh for this one.
/ A few folks have asked for versions that are easier to bookmark.
