1. A note to the left/those who wish to fundamentally change the country like Obama lovers. The Founders included a process in the Constitution to do this. It's called the amendment process & requires 2/3rds of the Congress or States to start
2. & 3/4ths of the States or the Convention (if the states started it) to agree to the changes. This is detailed in Article V. Notice that Article V does not say protests, riots, one federal district judge or a simple majority of the SCOTUS can fundamentally change the country.
3. Many of our current problems in this country began when the Country's leaders/agitators abandoned the amendment process because it was "too hard". Instead they tried to go the easy route & enact change in other ways disregarding the will of the super-majority creating division
4. My advice is to return to this process go through the Congress and the State governments to enact the change you want. If you fail then understand your view is the minority in the country and then shut the hell up or go back to work and change opinions and try again.
5. The process is hard true but not impossible. It's been done 27 times in our history, that averages out to the country being fundamentally changed every 8.5 years.
6. Another way of looking at it is that if you live to 85 you will see 10 major fundamental changes in the country. That is plenty of change to keep up with changing times as a nation and not allow the Constitution to become a "dead document"
7. In fact one could look at the current establishments abandonment of the amendment process as an effort to enact a self fulfilling prophecy and indeed make the US Constitution a dead document as they smother the ability of the document to grow with the times
8. The last amendment to start and finish ratification in modern times was the 26th amendment in 1971 it only took one year to complete it. The 27th on the other hand was started in 1789 and not ratified until 1992. Sometimes change happens quickly sometimes slowly.
9. Now think about this the last amendment started and finished in modern times was in 1971. During that same period our country has become divided into red states/blue states and almost two different countries at times.
10. I postulate this division isn't a coincidence and in fact is a symptom of abandoning the amendment process. I also submit the only way to bring the country back together is to start using this process again and have the vast majority decide how we live and under what terms
