This only makes me angry because it's being entertained as a dialogue at all. Disabled people said "We need this plastic item because it's the accessible option for us" that should be THE END.
Get out of the dialogue and go fight to ban birthday balloons or something!

Why are we attaching morality and shame to plastic straws when even if we did delete them all from existence it wouldn't make any real dent on the impact of the environment in comparison to other pollutants, the research has already been done.
You know what other things that involve plastic that we need? Lots of hospital stuff, stoma bags, IV bags, bottles for blood, plastic syringes, you wanna advocate to ban those things too because plastic??
Just because you never thought of a plastic straw as a necessary medical device doesn't mean that it's existance in public spaces isn't LIFE CHANGING for disabled people. These are THEIR LIVES.
