Why do we, by default, say girls are boring?
It's a pretty vicious cycle for girls and women:

Communicate to girls that women are boring athletes, discourage them from playing, fail to give resources to girls teams, act surprised there aren't as many girls who grow up to play sports, call women athletes boring. Repeat.
The Women's World Cup Final in 2015 wasn't even played on a main network in the United States. The most-viewed soccer event in American history, and it was on a secondary network with little marketing compared to men's events. Imagine if it had been respected like a men's event.
