It cannot be repeated too often: "no deal" is the default setting: it's what happens automatically, unless we actively construct an alternative. And as Theresa May is discovering, any attempt to construct such a deal will mobilise very powerful forces against it.
May doesn't have the votes in her own party to secure a deal, so she needs help from Labour. But - quite apart from the Euroscepticism of its leadership - Labour's best chance of bringing down the govt is to vote down the Brexit deal. It won't go out on a limb to save Theresa May
In short: "no deal" may not be the *most likely* outcome, but - at the very least - it has made it to the Semi Finals and is the team in form. Southgate for PM, anyone?
