.@FLGovScott has issued an exec order that appears to tell local authorities to not enforce the beach access bill that he signed into law. 🤔
In a release @FLGovScott says the new law he signed has caused “considerable confusion” & says he’s committed to keeping beaches open & he even urges prosecutors to keep beaches open
Maybe this is where one asks whether @FLGovScott office vetted the bill before signing it into law - or sought input from those who warned about it
Since @FLGovScott is not using his emergency powers on this exec order it’s application is limited to just state authorities. But Scott is directing DEP - a Cabinet agency btw - to serve as advocate for public beach access
So that sets up the potential of a state agency suing a local government following a law passed by #FLLeg
