@ProgressiveFor @ProgressiveFnd
1. I’m appreciative of your decision to come together to fight for a better country. We are witnessing in real-time the struggle for who we are and what we were meant to be as a nation - as a people.
2. Hate and fear has never been the route to progress, yet it is the absolute constant of inertia - and, as we’re seeing, can be the catalyst for retreat and the justification of ugliness. The bright side is so many have stepped up during this existential crisis to fight back.
3. Those of us who are fighting bring different strengths to the table. Clearly, you have the benefit of fortune to impact the world around you. My experience with Mr. Bass has shown me his intelligence and legitimate concern for those less fortunate. That matters.
4. A year ago, I started a pac to give experienced grassroots activists a voice in the political field they know so well. I believed in what we had to offer and I believed it the work we were already doing. We saw the need for strategy and a solid infrastructure.
5. Last year, Mr. Bass considered supporting our work. Though I tried to follow-up on this, it was not meant to be at the time. Perhaps that works for the best, as we are now able to put some results behind our work.
6. Our approach is different from other groups. We start with an assessment of the seat and then assess the candidates. Our support is strategic - with the goal of winning seats and building a solid bench. We don’t assess on ‘purity’ nor take applications for endorsement.
7. Our assessments are iterative at different points in the cycle. Though we firmly believe in early assessment and support, we recognize strategies may change - our loyalty is to winning the seat because we know that is imperative to power and policy-making.
8. Our first year results have been extremely encouraging. Our primary nominations are well-suited for winnability with targeted grassroots support. We’re winning.
9. You may wonder how this compares to other organizations. For the May primaries I compared against organizations that utilize ‘litmus tests’ for candidate endorsements.
10. I won’t take up more of your time, but I want you to consider the impact we’re making on a very slim budget. We have no corporate donors, we have a staff of two people. We work around the clock and rely on extraordinarily dedicated grassroots volunteers. Your support matters.
