i still don’t understand why #bullying is called bullying. i don’t understand why it isn’t called what it is - mental, verbal, emotional, physical abuse.
we educate people when they are young because that is when they are most like a sponge, able to absorb information.
we talk about how vital these early relationships are with family, teachers, community. because we are so open and vulnerable emotionally. raw. learning and developing an understanding of other people, ourselves and the connection between.
but bullying is just bullying. sticks and stones. suck it up, tell a teacher, ask them to stop. kids will be kids!
so a child is meant to be moulded and impacted by education and family relationships, but not by their interactions with peers they spend most of their days with?
that doesn’t make sense. i don’t accept that.
i’m not saying we should punish and treat the kids that commit this abuse the same way we do adults. not at all.
but we need to realise that this kind of behaviour is a reflection of our society.
and why do we, as a society, dimish this issue by calling it ‘bullying’ and talking about this kind of abuse the way we do?
why? is it too hard? to realise that our society is an environment that enables children to be damaged and then expects them not to be impacted by it?
