Ok, this is something that a lot of my friends in the anti-racism/anti-fuckwit community get quite a bit. So here's five quick things that you can do to combat the rise of the Far Right... (THREAD)
5/ STAY INFORMED. My particular favourite channel for learning about the Far Right is @hopenothate (UK)/@hopenothate_USA (USA). Recently, they've done terrific work in not only placing people within movements to observe, but foiling terrorist attacks. hopenothate.org.uk
4/ KEEP IT LOCAL. Don't wait for a national protest against the Right to happen, because chances are, it ain't ever gonna happen. Look for anti-racist groups within your community - there will be local chapters. Do you research and reach out - they'll be glad to hear from you.
3/ CHOO CHOO MOTHERFUCKER. Not all of us are able to confront right-wing racism when it happens, but you can tackle it on trains. If you're in the UK, save '61016' - British Transport Police - in your phone, to report racist abuse - text it with details, time and destination.
2/ POST NO BILLS. Outside of the internet, sticker and flyer campaigns are increasingly used by groups such as Generation Identity to push messages of 'invasion' by Islam. Feel free to rip them down - what are folks gonna do? Use a key or card to avoid nasty surprises.
1/ LISTEN. The Far Right don't always operate by marching down the street yelling and waving flags. Intimidation is a key tool, taking place away from view. If minority groups around you tell you something is happening, listen. Take note. Do not dismiss.
