This is part of a false narrative that has been pushed for the last year. It is by design. By talking about mythical “shadow bans” and painting the suspension of users for racism and conspiracy theories as political, it keeps social media companies from enforcing their own rules.

That’s why this strategy, while completely false, has been so effective. It’s also why social media companies will continue to trip over their own undies trying to justify what are clearly violations of their own rules.
