Aside from being forced to pay today's est. of $21 billion to France upon her independence as a black republic, from 1915-1934 US Marines occupied Haiti, killing opposition, forcing laws—even ran her finances.

This is the Treaty the US forced on a sovereign, independent nation (Haiti), solely for the purpose of benefiting US businesses as they couldn't stand the thought of having Haiti interfere with foreign interests.

Even the then US Secretary of State, Mr Robert Lansing, wrote to then President Woodrow Wilson, on the method the US was using to negotiate the Treaty as high handed and an invasion of the Haitian independence.
