Just to be clear turning off a pay tv service on public transport because it's airing nazis isn't fascism it's the opposite of fascism. Let me provide some examples of "creeping fascism" from the Australian context in this thread...
Using the machinery of government to attack your political enemies. A typical fascist thing to do.
Silencing civil society that might disagree with your attempts to restrict personal liberty & freedom. A tried and tested fascist move
Mass surveillance of the general public without their knowledge of when it's occurring, why or how it will be used. Every fascist regime uses this approach
Claiming a security crisis requires increased security & "random" identification checks. Fascists use this to discourage activism and create fear
Creating a false trade between safety and liberty. People will forgo small amounts of freedom in order to be safe so fascist regimes use "one bite at a time" approach to hide the total erosion of liberty
Creating divisions within the population based on race, religion or other "inherent traits". Fascists use "othering" to allow the population to justify the trade off of their own liberties. "I persecute them to protect my own"
Removal of oversight, judicial processes, capacity for whistle blowers to expose malfeasance. No point having a fascist state if your wrong doing can be picked apart by a disgruntled former lackey
Sacrificing lackeys to protect the ruling class. Fascism demands sacrifice of the lower orders and while it's being established and the last social democrats are being expunged from institutions lackeys will become martyrs for later use. Think Horst Wessel
Punishing those who expose your law breaking. The state is above the law and as fascist rulers are the state they cannot break the law but if you've damaged the state, or the rulers, then you're for the high jump.
Misuse of the judicial system to attack social democrats is common in fascism
Which is why fascists also publicly attack judges and the legal system as a whole. Partly to cow the participants and partly to undermine public confidence in the notion of an independent judiciary
I hope you've found this short stroll through genuinely fascist activities educational and a clear dichotomy from quite literally changing the channel on some TVs. #auspol
