7yrs after #Tunisia sparked 1at protests in “Arab Spring,” & ousted its long-standing dictator, it is generating inspiration & anger yet again by upending what many consider more difficult to overthrow than dictators-for-life: Islamic laws & taboos on marriage & inheritance.
#Tunisia’s moves to give women equal marriage and inheritance rights are revolutionary not just for women in that country but also for Muslim women everywhere. They are important steps towards dismantling what I call the Trifecta of Misogyny: state and street and home misogyny. 
In the same way that it sparked revolutions against dictators in other countries, #Tunisia is leading the way for women’s rights in the region. Look at what it has achieved
Now, #Tunisian Pres Essebsi to submit the proposal for equal inheritance to parliament which resumes in Oct.

The president's decision is based on recommendations of 300-page govt report known as Colibe report. It recommended change in inheritance rights as well as proposals to end the death penalty & legalize homosexuality,which now in #Tunisia is outlawed & punished with 3yrs in prison
