As a cis woman/lesbian, I'd like to share my thoughts on a sensitive issue. Please note, this is just an observation on my part. It is something that may resonate with some, but not with others. Okay... Trans people are often times their own worst critics...
...In the short while I've been back on Twitter, I've had the pleasure and the honour of becoming friends with a pretty large number of trans people. For the sake of this thread, I'm mainly discussing the trans women I know. (Non-Binary and trans men, You are not forgotten xx)..
...I've been privileged to be welcomed into a world that I honesty, never really knew that much about. I've learned so much and continue to learn every day. I've been witness to the horrific t*rf abuse against trans people. They often resort to insulting the way trans women...
...look, I've seen horrible insults hurled regarding femininity, height, jaw line's, wigs/hair and shaving etc... It's a long list and It's always hard to read, but not as hard on me as it is on the trans people who are on the receiving end of these horrible insults...
...When I'm not tweeting, I often just sit and read the tweet conversations that my trans siblings have with each other. For the record here t*rfs, they aren't planning a global takeover, they're just a bunch of people, talking about day to day stuff like music, films, dating...
...vegan cheese (and how god awful it tastes **Katy & Christina** - I'm looking at you 2!) etc... Normal everyday things that all us woman talk about about ya know? There's also something else I've noticed that they often talk about 2 & this is where I get a little upset & sad...
...In order to better explain this, there was something that really tugged at my heart strings just now, which popped up in the form of a meme being shared among my trans siblings. Attached it here so you can see...
... Like 'ouch' ya know? 😢 This isn't the first time I've noticed this kind of thing. I mean I acknowledge that we all have bad days when we feel ugly, too fat, just generally sh*tty but I've never thought of myself as some sort of monster. My point here is that on top of all..
..the external harassment and the vile insults bigots go out of their way to leave on trans twitter posts, trans people sometimes beat themselves up with meme's like ^that one. The way t*rfs and even some ill mannered cis folks who aren't actual t*rfs believe it's acceptable...
...to pick a person apart because they don't meet their standards of "feminine acceptability" or some misguided idea as to what a real woman or a real man or what NB people should look like in the world according to cis people is so f*cked up!..
...As a cis woman I just want 2 say 2 these other cis people 'Get yr heads out of your a*ses! We r NOT perfect, We all have our own sh*t & who the f*ck told u that you, Mr/Miss NotSoHot from Bigotsville that u have the right 2 criticize another human being on their looks?"...
...We all have flaws. FACT! 😡 To my trans siblings, I just want to say... You are all f*cking beautiful in my eyes. Your courage, your bravery and your enormous capacity for forgiveness and love outshines 99% of the folks who try to put you down. Never forget that. EVER!..
...That's all I have 2 say about this (almost a Forrest Gump quote there!) If this is worded badly & offends anyone, I'm sorry in advance. It's 1 of those rants that is more 'feels' than anything else & it can b pretty hard 2 put the right sentiment behind a bunch of typed words.
