In Edwards case, he used campaign funds to keep his pregnant mistress under wraps. He even had campaign staffer Andrew Young claim the child was his. Cohen used personal funds to pay off Daniels & the other.
At the very worst the FEC could call it an in-kind contribution to have the Trump Organization or Trump reimburse Cohen for the payments. However, in an interview, former FEC chair says it wouldn't be. dailywire.com/news/29365/for…

Secretary of Defense Mattis leaving is not the end of the world as the media makes it out to be. While I have respect for Mattis he's not the only person qualified for the job.
Every administration has its stars, and those stars often leave after about 2-3 years and often that's shortly after a midterm election or a presidential election. I think some of the friction that resulted in Mattis leaving was probably applied through John Bolton.
Mattis is an old guard type and believes in long term troop presence even after objectives have been met.

Comey said in July 2016, "To be clear, this is not to suggest that in similar circumstances, a person who engaged in this activity would face no consequences. To the contrary, those individuals are often subject to security or administrative sanctions."
Comey also stated, "all other cases that were prosecuted involved intentional/willful mishandling of information. How does Comey think that classified information ended up on a private server? That IS willful intent because it has to be physically removed from systems.
