Self-insight: if I rely on willpower to change things, it usually doesn't work.

Instead, being excited or being "fed up" or seeing the thing as a duty to others — all these work.

Further thoughts threaded. Hit me up if you have an opinion.

Being excited is obvious, but v underplayed. Almost taboo. Huge ROI (for me anyway).

Being fed up is an if/else tradeoff. "If I don't do this, then nothing happens…" An easy way to orientate toward the future. Marginally less ROI.

Duty shifts the future orientation object of being "fed up" from myself to someone/group else. The object has to matter to you.

Seemingly the least ROI. But after reading "The Gift" + "Elephant in the Brain" this is the social contract among us social animals. Highest ROI.
