In the final para here @NickCohen4 suggests that under a Corbyn Labour government the Human Rights Act would be threatened as it places checks on governments... not sure about that! Certainly no signs of it in anything any Labour politician has said
I do get the point and also worry about some of the anti-dissent tendencies around Corbyn's movement. But whether a Corbyn government would go as far as unravelling the HRA which he and his colleagues have clearly supported, I doubt.

So...dialogue craft thread ahoy!
Dialogue is a huge topic.There are so many different ways to write it well, and so many different factors that go into it. I'm just going to spew out a bunch of tips. This isn't going to be any kind of all-inclusive How To Do Dialogue manual (if there could even be such a thing).
Some important factors:

Voice! Every character should have their own unique voice. Ideally, I should be able to guess who's speaking without tags.

Word choice, sentence length, cadence, exclamations & expletives, worldview, how they describe things, etc all factor in.

1. A bunch of people have asked me if I’ve taken a look at the Data & Society report, “Alternative Influence: Broadcasting the Reactionary Right on YouTube”.

3. I saw the infographic floating around last night and at a quick glance thought it was so bad that I didn’t bother to look at the report, but I did see a tweet from someone replying to Tim Pool that he had been on a show Tim was claiming he hadn’t been on.

I made mention awhile back that I held constitutional objections to the Medicare For All proposals that periodically come up. It's a complex topic, so it took me a couple weeks to put this together into a (hopefully) coherent argument, but at last, here it is. #m4a
The wide range of concerns around Medicare For All has resulted in these being pretty muddy waters, so for the sake of holding a focused discussion, let's just assume that, with the exception of constitutionality, all other concerns have been satisfactorily assuaged.
In other words, I don't want to get sidetracked by whether or not M4A would cause stagnation in medical advancements, lower incentives to enter the field, suffer from too many bureaucratic inefficiencies, etc.

Let's just assume that, if implemented, it's a guaranteed success.

So, I’m going to try and stop posting on the Joy Reid issue in the hopes that her choosing to apologize for things she may not have done is enough for her to move beyond this, but I just want to say these same tactics will be used on others and we should remember.
First, remember that the best chaos agents will build their tactics around something true that cannot be denied wholly or outright. Joy had already owned and addressed bad takes of the past. This was used as an opening.
Next, remember that once there is room for doubt the goalposts and narratives can be shifted wherever the wedge issues allow. In this case when being a homophobe didn’t stick it became about “lying” about X.
