"Johny Johny Yes Papa": A study in child starvation, unhealthy adult relationships, and addiction—The Official Thread Part 1. You are going to want to buckle in for this, as it's going to get real ugly, real quick. I want to start today with child starvation.
There is clearly a serious issue around food, food sources, food consumption, and bodily autonomy in this household. Not to mention there must have been a traumatic event that completely dissolved any tenuous understanding of trust between EVERY member of this family.
Some have suggested that Johny, whose head seems engorged relative to his body, exhibits a classic case of macrocephaly, or "big head" which could be due to a tumor, or perhaps, sadly, blunt force trauma. Some have suggested fetal alcohol syndrome, which often causes MICROcephaly
However, if Mama's diet is indeed a cause of Johny's physical oddities, one could glean that Mama repeatedly gorged herself on foods and beverages that damaged Johny in utero, causing Papa to question her eating habits and develop an unhealthy obsession with food.
We've seen Johny sneaking food, but never Papa or Mama. We see Grandpa and Grandma sneak food. Are these maternal or paternal grandparents? Did food hoarding/unhealthy eating skip a generation or are Mama and Papa reformed addicts living amongst constant temptation?
*Or* is Papa a tyrant obsessed with physical perfection who starves his children so that they can adhere to his unrealistic body standards? In both "Kids playing with fridge" and "Refrigerator (come to life)" Papa is seen playing tennis and *only* asking for water, never food.
The kids are consistently caught smuggling eating unhealthy foods. They only ever ask Refrigerator for sweets, it always lies/balks to avoid giving sweets, and the kids pressure Refrigerator until sweets are bestowed. The following is from "Kids playing with fridge."
There are healthy options available in the depths of Refrigerator's husk, but these options are not requested by the children, and Refrigerator does not offer them. Instead it is ice cream, cupcakes, and chocolate. The little food these children get is dangerously unhealthy.
Refrigerator seems like an unwilling participant (potentially the victim of blackmail) in this scheme, and is even subject to a complete loss of body autonomy after Chiya (the most persistently cruel of the kids) rips its door open, exposing its trunk and the sweets inside.
Prior to Chiya's assault, Refrigerator turns its back to the family and is shaking its body from side to side in what can only be read as an act of pure dejection—perhaps it is considering venturing out into the street, hoping for an end to its life of forced servitude.
After being violated by Chiya, Johny's (often absent) twin sister Dolly asks refrigerator for "cupcake," the usual back and forth ensues, and when Refrigerator goes to give Dolly the cupcake, it is violently ripped from her hands by Johny—these children are fighting over food.
In another video, Johny gets ready for school. Not only does he sleep in bed with a character titled "Ice Cream *Man*" who lingers like a spectre of unhealthy eating and inappropriate sexual relationships (more later), but Johny is forced to wash himself with a measuring cup.
There are clear warning signs of child abuse here, but the most important aspect is the fact that Papa, once again, seems to be the one who lords over everyone's eating habits, to the point where he has instilled fear in the family. Twitter user @frerardfic notices this.
In this video, as soon as Johny sits down for breakfast and attempts to eat something that contains the nutrients his growing body needs (a sandwich and a glass of milk), his father's voice calling his name causes him to hide his sandwich behind his back and *lie* about eating.
Another video *begins* with Papa and Johny and Mama and Dolly shaming Grandpa and Grandma for eating. Casting aside the odd moments where parent refers to their adult children as "baby" we can see the draconian approach to food consumption permeates the entire house.
A question posed by user @lanamerc_ is especially upsetting: "Are they so committed to this unhealthy lifestyle that they will stop at nothing to see it through to its grisly end?..."
"...Perhaps the personification of inanimate objects (i.e., refrigerator, ice cream cone) is a severe hallucination as caused by their severe malnutrition and dehydration...."
"...The anonymous documentarian is choosing to show us what Johny and his family see but perhaps the reality is a bunch of drug addicts and abused children squabbling in a cardboard box in the middle of a dark alley."
Unfortunately, we can only wonder *why* Papa is so hell-bent on starving his immediate family and how he has managed to rope Refrigerator into his macabre plan. We can only wonder *if* Chiya is somehow complicit in this scheme. We haven't even scratched the surface however...
The next installment in this critique will delve deeper into the interfamilial dynamics, including the problematic figure that is the Ice Cream Man... for now I hope you remember to hug your children (and your food) a little closer tonight.

I would be remiss if I didn’t discuss when Papa (his subconscious ruling over him) dreams about pizza, then sneaks into the kitchen to eat some before being admonished by Mama. After stopping him from fulfilling a vice, she immediately thinks of, bakes, & eats a cupcake.
There is an alarming lack of self control displayed by supposed parental figures in this household that is trickling down into the lives of the children, whose lives seem fueled solely by the promise of sugar and exposing “liars” who are hiding sugar that is ripe for consumption.
