If the Congress did Demonetisation and we were in 2013, the media would be calling it the biggest scam ever done by a political party.

A 15 lakh crore scam.
People would be out on streets, Anna Hazare would be going crazy. Sibal would be giving Zero Loss theories, trying to justify their move. Ramdev would be screaming about black money.

Wait... we've seen this happen somewhere before, haven't we?
Maybe it's just my imagination.
It won't happen now because nobody trusts the media anymore. BJP has ensured nobody believes anything in the news.

The media house owners are still happy because they get to bank on a pro-Government nationalist sentiment to sell ads. They don't lose anything.

The people do.
Studio journalism based on tapping into popular sentiment, fueled by loudmouthed anchors is WAYYY cheaper than sending journalists out in the field to do stories. It all works out just fine.

So there is no incentive left to do anti-government investigative stories, is there?

Complaints were then made to my MP #VinceCable. He liaised with the #Metpolice & #LBRUT. And then weeks later, the search warrant was completely changed & was passed off as the search warrant executed on the day of the raids.

2/ The trouble is that these steps call for better honest administration that is non-corruptible and fair. But that remains elusive in India. The fact is that while property prices may have come down, the venality has not. There's still a lot of under-the-table deals.
3/ with all the cash sloshing around Indian money has now become the largest source of deals for real estate in Dubai. So the rich guys have found a new place to park their wealth. Thank you for #DeMonetisation.

1/ It was always clear to most non-bhakts that #demonetisation was a stupid (and I'm being polite here) move economically.
2/ Once you layered the human cost, the move was downright unconscionable. We are aware of the prominent folks who opposed it.
3/ They were very helpfully termed as black-marketers, cash hoarders, anti-national by the bhakt brigade.
