Rachel Notley vows to not raise the current carbon tax three years from now unless Trudeau pushes forward in the next few months to protect the massive investment he just made, which he'll doubtless do. That's all she did today, right? 1/
Notley couldn't have just said she was mad as hell. To channel Alberta anger she had to Do Something. Temporarily suspending plans for a three-years-from-now tax change has the fairly thin veneer of Something.
But... 2/
A tough-sounding Something that actually means Very Little might be the best option she has at present.
The bag of options mostly contains dumb, self-sabotaging and ineffective things. Notwithstanding clause! Shut off the taps as if that unquashes a permit! Slash gas taxes! 3/
She could rail against equalization, an ol-timey Alberta favourite, but she can't stop transfer payments because that's not how things work.
If there are real Do Something actions she could have legitimately done amounting to more than blowing off steam, I'm open to ideas. 4/4

Seems to me that Jeremy Corbyn is probably an unconscious anti-Semite. I'd wager he genuinely doesn't consider himself an anti-Semite, doesn't recognize anti-Semitism when he sees it, and deals in anti-Semitic tropes whose only aspects he comprehends are the anti-capitalist bits.
Cries of "anti-Semitism!" over that video of him are a reach. But what prompts such wariness?

The fact that Corbyn is steeped in a conspiratorial anti-Semitic milieu (Google his brother Piers), defends anti-Semites, & rehabilitates anti-Semites under the guise of "anti-Zionism."
The late Moishe Postone, a brilliant Marxist academic at U. Chicago, wrote much about left anti-Semitism and reactionary anti-imperialism. He noticed the revival of anti-Semitism on the left as a "pseudo-emancipatory anti-capitalism," which is, after all, a very old story.

Point 1. The RBI’s Consumer Confidence Survey (May 2018) found that 48 per cent of those surveyed felt that economic conditions had worsened in the last 12 months.
The survey is unlikely to have covered the most backward parts of the country or the most deprived sections of the people. Therefore, the number of 48 per cent will be actually higher.
Point 2. Farmers’ despondency has turned into anger and farmers have come to the streets to protest. The principal reasons are uneconomic prices for farm produce and stagnant wages of farm labour.
