If we lose our competitive edge in Europe, UK trade will be designed to benefit those with factories abroad or profit margins big enough to cope with the extra cost of exporting beyond Europe or competing at a disadvantage.

Is that small/medium businesses OR huge corporations?
This is one of the many reasons it drives me nuts when people in Labour or other fellow Lefties support leaving the EU thinking that it will make life better for smaller businesses.
They say "big business controls the EU". Big business will always influence ANY system of government. The EU, however, has masses of apparatus designed to LIMIT its influence. (See Transparency Register). Does London?
"But big businesses in the UK generally don't want Brexit."
Analogy time:
I have more money than little Bob. The price of sweets goes up. I can out-compete lil bob, True, but it still means I have to pay more. And Francois & Juan, across the road, they still pay the lower price.
