I don't doubt there is friction in the Trump White House. A White House without any friction is nothing more than an echo chamber of adulation for the sitting president. There should be clashes of ideas within an administration to minimize bad ideas. That's why there is a cabinet
and this is also why there are aides to the president, cabinet secretaries, and career officials within every agency and department throughout an administration. During the first term of Bush 43 and both terms of Obama there was very little friction if any leading to bad policies
From time to time there are going to be aides or even cabinet level secretaries that are disgruntled that their particular idea was not approved. This isn't a lack of professionalism, it's human nature. Those that put that behind them however, they are the professionals.
People that write anonymous articles or become anonymous sources are not serving the interest of the country. If they are that disgruntled then why are they not shouting from the rooftops as the hero they think they are?
Also, people that write these tell all books criticizing an administration they were part of, but made very little hay about it while they were actually in a position to do something should also be met with some level of skepticism no matter which administration they were in.
I'm glad that every aide to the president isn't happy about things, it shows the president gets numerous options presented and he selects the best option just like when we do course of actions briefs to determine which COA to choose sometimes resulting in a new, better COA.
If every person is happy then that means few or only one idea is pitched and there is little if any debate on the proposed policy. Policies are not meant to be popular, they are meant to be effective and the president must choose wisely.
The president also has to make course corrections if a policy is failing or is not as effective as it could be. This can lead to short term resentment by the aide that proposed the policy originally. Better to scrap or fix a policy than just let it keep going causing more damage
Any person that has ever worked in a management level position should know and understand this. The media should also understand it and stop being so partisan nitpicking every word for some hidden meaning that doesn't exist. The media was practically a trumpet of bad ideas.
Most of the talking heads that have predicted disastrous results from the Trump presidency have been completely wrong. They rarely adjust to the realities of what is happening which throws them scrambling for Russia, Russia, Russia again each time Trump has good news.
When Trump does something good, give him the credit he deserves, don't bend over backwards trying to credit Obama. Media wasn't crediting Bush for saving the economy with TARP or because the economy turned in the first half of 2009. Criticize fairly when warranted.
Predicting disaster every time Trump tries something others disagreed with makes you look foolish, whether you are media or an aide, when the results turn out positive. Best to report the facts, then both probabilities of what could happen rather than sound like Chicken Little.
Also, for the media, an anonymous aide speaking out isn't a first that occurred in the Trump Administration. NatSecWonk, aka Joseph Joni, was live tweeting from the Obama White House as a Nat Sec Council aide berating the administration on its policies. He was fired.
Did the media have a fit that the Obama Administration was trying to silence its critic from within the administration by firing him and stripping him of his clearance? Nope, they applauded the action and some called him a national security risk.
If you look at history you see from the first administration of George Washington through the present there has been rivalry within administrations. Hamilton and Jefferson or Jefferson and Adams. That friction led to the formulation & life of our great nation.
