One of the challenges with CAR T cells (the awesome gene-engineered cancer killing T cells) is that they only proliferate in the presence of the tumor. GoCAR-T cells have a switch for proliferation that can be triggered by a drug, to keep them revving even when tumor absent.
They also have a better safety profile. Normal CAR T are so powerful we worry about "cytokine storms" or out-of-control immune response. GoCAR-T only respond in proportion to drug, so oncologist can "dial in" the right level of response from the immune system.
