So I moved to Android few weeks back to experience the new new Bharat apps and here is what I am observing : many founders are building (like in 2015) product for VCs - vernacular, AI, WhatsApp friendly, audio etc. That is all the key buzzwords. But..
But..most of these are more of a "let me stuff every damn shit" and raise funding. Notes to these founders: maybe try to solve for the end user. VCs move from theme to theme, party to party. And unless you have anything meaningful, scaling up content is meaningless. Have..
Have skin. And a game.

Right now, most of these startups are famous for their funding rounds and not for the product/user pulse. The market, I tell you gives no fuck to your fund cycle. Great products do win and Bharat market will be no exception.
If there is one thing we can learn from these Chinese apps that rule the post-Jio world, it is this: have a fucking differentiated product. Most importantly, think product and not marketing/not funding. Most of these apps are great products with a deep viral loop. On the...
On the other hand, most of desi products are over hyped. In fact , indie app developers have cracked this wave much before this became a buzzword in the tier-1 world. Many apps with 10 mm downloads just do 1 thing and they win. They aren't talked about, won't raise funding..but
But they win. Because they are in the hinterland , tinkering with ideas and not trying to please the investors. I hope the ecosystem learns from this deja-vu exuberance and actually builds for the end user.
