LAW 11: Learn to keep people dependent on you.

Value is power. If you don’t bring essential value to people’s lives, you’re powerless amongst them.

You must learn to take care of yourself and take responsibility for your life. This is called maturity.
1. Dependency between people is always mutual. There are no exceptions to this rule.
If you draw power from people’s being dependent on you, they too have power over you, even if they don't realize it or don't know how to use it.

Forget this at your peril.
2. Herding is powerful, otherwise it wouldn’t be so widespread. But the path of Exalted achievement always leads away from the herd and the powers that be.
Legendary investors and market speculators know how to play the game and break the game, but make bank with their contrarian calls – against the herd and consensus knowledge.
3. Combative people are inherently fragile and easy to manipulate. They rely on conflict to keep them going, so they are reactive and codependent.
Obsessing over people who slight you and oppose you puts you on the defensive and closes up your mind.

Never let others define you, least of all the unworthy.
4. The freedom of independence comes at great cost – isolation from friends and enemies, acting unpredictably, being feared rather than liked.

This high cost is why freedom has always been held in high esteem, and why the majority often fear and persecute those who choose it.
Be wary of people who entice you with the promise of freedom – they are fools or frauds. Don't get played for a sucker.
5. Understand that pleasant company can only get you so far.

People may like you, but when the going gets tough they will align themselves with strength that helps them through.

If they don’t, then you're keeping company with fools begging their own demise.
6. The unique value you bring to people's lives is the most authentic way to connect – not words and virtue-signalling.

To connect without sacrificing your authenticity, always be working on your betterment that brings value to others.
Until you grow up and learn to take care of your basic needs, you approach life from a position of weakness.

When battered by circumstance, mature adults don't wail and complain, but find ways to improve themselves and increase their value.
7. Mastery is a key to power. The only way to make yourself irreplaceable is to offer a skillset that few others can.
Don’t mistake mastery for specialization. Becoming exceptional and cutting-edge in any vocation requires transcending it with knowledge and wisdom from other fields.
Einstein did not invent relativity by doing mathematics and lab work like any other physicist would.

He used thought experiments to gain insight and only then formalized it in the language of the profession.
8. The honey badger is the archetype of the inexorable savage. It stops at nothing that stands in its way.

Savagery is powerful reputation. It signals you won't yield to public opinion and won't be led by the mass.
9. Mutually assured destruction is a form of dependency. Make it so costly to cross you that only fools will want to pick fights with you.
10. Choose wilful ignorance of the Power of Mind and let the lo-awarenes mass decide your fate and the fate of your world.

Or you master it and benefit many.
