The New Yorker piece says that the incident happened when Kavanaugh was a minor. (I looked it up, and he turned 18 in February of his senior year in high school.)
Kavanaugh denies the allegation. His friend, who is alleged to have been in the room as he held her down and to have turned up the music so others couldn't hear her protests, said "I have no recollection of that."
