A brief "four more years" chant breaks out at Trump's Hispanic Heritage Month event at the White House. On script so far, Trump is extolling Hispanics for their patriotism, hard work, and other positive traits. He says Hispanics "enrich our nation in countless ways."
Trump, at Hispanic Heritage Month event, on the Puerto Rico hurricane recovery: "It's been an incredible, tough situation. But we fought, and we are winning that one big."
Trump adds: "And we stand with Puerto Rico, and we are helping them to rebuild stronger and better than ever before. And that's what's happening, too."
Trump on Hispanics: "These are incredible people. You know you're incredible people, don't you? Huh? You know that, don't you?" Looking at a particular person, he adds, "Especially with that beautiful Trump hat on, thank you."
Trump keeps falsely claiming that people had been unsuccessfully trying for 40 or 45 years to pass the Veterans Choice program. It was passed under Obama four years ago. Trump's law makes changes to the program.
Trump recites a number of positive economic statistics about Hispanics, then adds: "These are very hard numbers to beat. I better win the Hispanics next time, right? But we did well, we did well."
Trump on Hispanic prosperity: "These are amazing statistics. Be proud of yourself, it's incredible. Of course, I'd like to take full credit. Can I take? Huh? I wasn't the one getting up at 5 o'clock in the morning to go to work, I know that, but I get up at 5 for other reasons."
Trump is inviting up Hispanic business owners, who are praising him. The current speaker Joel Garza, a Texas owner of Sonic restaurants, is thanking him for the tax cuts.
