1) Morning Grassley thread, to help keep you panic-prone types from flying off the handle.

2) As far as I’m aware, the Monday Executive Business Meeting with Kavanaugh’s confirmation vote HAS NOT BEEN CANCELLED. Kavanaugh’s name has not been removed from the list of judges to be confirmed.

3) Grassley knows that the line just has to be held until Monday. He prevented the Democrats from taking back the tempo all friday.

4) First, the Dems caved on demanding the FBI investigation. Now, it is blatant that they are refusing to reschedule under reasonable terms Ford’s testimony.

5) Four extensions now. FOUR. Four chances to agree to testify, and Grassley has the biggest piece still on the table: Monday, they can vote to confirm Kavanaugh though the Judiciary, and start the most chaotic shitshow in the Senate since the Obamacare repeal.

6) Think about the state of play RIGHT NOW.

Grassley and the GOP have the tempo. They granted an extension and called out the Dems for obstruction. The Dems now have to react and can’t get a weekend narrative put together.

7) The Flake crew have all signalled they’ll vote for Kavanaugh. If you see fake news shit about how they’re wavering, READ THE QUOTES INSIDE THE ARTICLE. They’re at worst hedging based on if Ford agrees to testify.

8) The Dems ONLY PLAY is to stall for time. That’s it. They have no more cards in their hand, or they would have played them by now. They are out of actions they can take, surprises they can spring.

9) And come Monday, Grassley can honestly say, “We gave them all weekend, and all they tried to do was stall for more time. If they don’t have a point to make, if they don’t want to give their testimony, then they can moveon.org, because we’re done waiting.”

10) And then Monday... boom. Kavanaugh passes committee. Boom, Kavanaugh gets through cloture. Boom, Kavanaugh gets confirmed.

11) The Dems will try to make you panic. They will try to make you anxious. They will try to make you afraid.

Say no.
