Black women and minority women have long know that, when pressed, a *majority* of white women will abandon any pretense of "sisterhood" and sacrifice equality for the preservation of white supremacy. I've said before that black women were the *least surprised* by Trump's election
I've heard some version of "I told you about Becky" from most black women I know. (Conversely, hyper-educated black men seemed to be most surprised: us *fools* thought Chip and Topher and Huffington were really our friends.)
There are many reasons a *majority* of white women vote the way they do, and not all of them are evil. Economic shackles, adoption of patriarchy tropes, there are books. And many, white women work tirelessly to free their sisters, and to fight the men who hold them down.
What we saw today was the unmasked sneering contempt the Republican party holds for *all* women. We saw the volatile disgust privileged men have when they are *forced* to listen and take seriously a woman armed with only her naked word and all of her clothes.
Most white women have seen that face before, of course, but often in private. Minorities see that face every day. In public. Sometimes when trying to give white people MONEY in a store, *every* time we are vulnerable and have nothing a Republican wants from us at that moment.
Now that we've all seen it in public, in color, in a pitched battle for *real power, will a *majority* of white women be horrified? Will they join minority women and the minority of white women already disgusted? Or will they take one more ride on the "at least I'm white" train?
If white women started voting like black women, the patriarchy would burn down. These white men *cannot maintain their positions of supremacy without the help of a majority of white women. They never have. White women got freaking BEER... PROHIBITED! BEFORE they got *the vote.*
Brett Kavanaugh could be the *last* Supreme Court seat to go to a white man, or at least his kind of white man, for a generation, if a *majority* of white women wished it that way.
