I criticized this idea yesterday, but I kind of see where he's coming from now.

By doing this, he'd give his party cover to hold hearings for Trump's judges and expose them as unfit, while removing any risk that conservative Dems breaking ranks could cause them to be confirmed.
That said, I still think it's a shortsighted idea. If Democrats get unified control of government in 2020 they will likely have to re-nuke the filibuster to confirm any judges, and that won't be a good look.
I would argue that the party should proceed without the filibuster, hold hearings in committee on Trump's nominees, and for any who are unfit or extreme (which is most of them), Schumer could simply refuse to schedule a full floor vote.
