2/ The Don is growing in confidence, his fascist rallies are going well. And yet his poll numbers won’t rise. How can he produce another 2016?
3/ Autocrats need scapegoats. Esther, the book that ends the history section of the Hebrew Scriptures, is all about that. The villain Haman, counsellor to the King, made the Jews his scapegoat as he grasped for more and more power in Persia.
4/ Queen Esther had been hiding her Jewish identity. Mordecai the Rabbi writes to her these famous words:
5/... “Do not think to yourself that in the King’s palace you will escape any more than all the other Jews. . . . And who knows whether you have not come to the kingdom for such a time as this?” (Esther: 4:13-14)
6/ Quick cut to a scene related to us by Trump’s first wife -- the only time she or anyone ever saw Donald reading a book. The book? It was “The Speeches of Hitler.”
7/ Donald has neither the intelligence nor the will of Adolph. He does, however have the cunning to notice that once Adolph’s speeches became all about the Jews, his power surged exponentially.
8/ Beginning with his rallies in 2016, Donald has been groping for his very own scapegoat. It’s not that he actually hates any ethnic group -- lesser humans barely exist to him.
9/ But he tried scapegoating anyway. First it was Hispanics, but that didn’t get him much traction. Lots of us have Hispanic friends.
10/ Next he tried scapegoating Muslims, but the country wasn’t really buying it. Turns out most of us like religious freedom. He insulted women reporters, but, woe is he, lots of people actually respect women...
11/... He flirted with blaming black football players, but they had too many fans to get his poll numbers up. What’s a demagogue to do?
12/ Would political correctness stifle his every turn? Once in office, he could never get past 40% for more than a week or two. How will he build his red wave, win the midterms, and sweep to a truly glorious victory in 2020?
13/ Where or where is the scapegoat he can lie about and constantly attack? That would feel so good!
14/ Let’s go into the fetid swamp, let’s go into Donald’s brain. (Let me get my gas mask.) “Hmmm. It’s not as though I haven’t made quite a lot of inroads. I’ve bent the Repubs to my will. The South is mine, the West, except for that damn coast, is mine....
15/...“Hmmm. If only I could put all the women and blacks and hispanics and Jews and Snowflaky Whites together and make them all my scapegoats!
16/ ...“Where are my Jews to blame everything on? What’s a dema . . . wait, wait, my genius is seeing it! Wait for it …. THE DEMOCRATS! I can scapegoat them all! And it’s politically correct!”
17/ Now take a look at the last few rallies and pay attention to the next few rallies. Dems are the Donald’s new scapegoats. Dems are the mob, Dems are evil people. Dems are the enemies, the crazed ones, the bad people.
