Trump is releasing sensitive FISA classified information "without redaction" to try to undermine the Russia investigation. This isn't a man doing his duty to defend US national security. But it's a nifty distraction from #Kavanaugh debacle, esp for FoxNews propaganda programming
Look, anyone who knew anything about how Russian influence ops work recognized that the Trump campaign was likely compromised. The FBI would have been derelict in its duty to protect US national security if they DIDN'T open an investigation. Page, Manafort were known quantities.
So much for "anonymous" saving us from national security nightmare Trump. The guy under investigation is bent on derailing the investigation. Now he's overruled intelligence & law enforcement experts to declassify FISA docs👇. This isn't Trump being dumb. It's Trump covering up.
Putin and Russian criminal networks are the ultimate beneficiaries of Trump's declassification, and really all his abuses of power to undermine the Russia probe. Smearing FISA, FBI, DOJ only makes it easier for Kremlin mobsters & hitmen to menace our societies with impunity.
>> Trump said he ordered the release of classified FISA documents to "expose" the FBI investigation into his campaign collusion w/ Russia began as a “hoax" & is a "cancer on our country." He says this could become one of his “crowning achievements” 👑thehill.com/hilltv/rising/…
Trump's absurd conspiracy theory that "deep state" Dems framed him has been thoroughly debunked—many times. Russia attacked us. Team Trump encouraged it, even met w/ Russians about it. That's no hoax. Page, Manafort, Papadopoulos were on FBI Russia-radar before Steele dossier.👇
If anything, Trump signaled to Russia to launch its attack. Before the Trump Tower meeting, the DNC hack was just ordinary spying. After the campaign met w/ Russians, the Kremlin weaponized the hacks. Thus began the mass attack on our election, as I wrote medium.com/@PaulaChertok/…
The Trump Tower meeting was critical to Russia's attack, parts of which were timed precisely to Trump/campaign actions. That's pointedly noted in a Mueller indictment. If Trump hadn't been so eager for Kremlin help, would Putin have weaponized the emails? A legit question, tweeps
#BREAKING - DOJ pushed back and won, for now: Trump walks back declassification of FISA documents, saying DOJ “stated that doing so may have a perceived negative impact on the Russia probe.” (Unfortunately for Trump, his intent to obstruct justice doesn’t get a walk-back.)
🤔Who are the “key Allies’[sic]” who asked Trump NOT to release declassified docs? Couldn’t be top ally/propagandist Nunes. Just this morning Nunes was on FoxNews urging “immediate release w/ no redactions” (🙏@atrupar who watches Fox so we don’t have to)
