Happy Monday! I'm looking to hire a mid-to-senior level software developer onto my team at @SalesforceUX. Location is San Francisco, Bellevue, or remote (+/- 3 hours from Pacific time). Here's the job description! I'll answer some FAQs (thread) salesforce.wd1.myworkdayjobs.com/en-US/External…
The job description says at the bottom that you must be a US citizen, but that is NOT the case. You do need to be eligible to work in the US, but you do not need to be a citizen. Been trying to get that changed with no luck so far. [sigh]
We're trying to build our organizational muscle around distributed teams. All-onsite is still the default here - distributed isn't yet normal. So, if you're remote, you have the opportunity to help drive that practice, but, uh, you may need to help drive that practice.😅
Unlike most software engineering positions at Salesforce, this one does not require a computer science degree. We are currently a team of 2 and we both have CS backgrounds, so I decided to cast a deliberately wider net.
I am looking for someone with quite a bit of software development experience, though. Right now I am half-manager, half-architect, and ideally this person can take some of the system design work off my plate.
This person also will be working directly with newer devs, so interest in pairing & technical mentoring is essential. If you've been following me for awhile, let me assure you that we are not a 100% pairing shop. But we view it as a useful tool, especially for knowledge pooling.
The job is called a "UX Engineer" because organizationally we're in the UX group. That sorta makes it sound like most of the code would be front-end focused, but since we own the tooling ecosystem, our work actually includes quite a bit of back-end work, as well as mobile & ops.
So while I'm looking for experience, I'm not specifically looking for front-end software development experience, even though the job is called "UX Engineer." Most important thing is flexibility & interest in broadening horizons (yours & other people's). 😊
To clarify - we do some front-end work, and if we hire someone with a lot of front-end experience, we could certainly do more. But we do a bunch of other stuff as well, so interest in busting those silos is essential.
One last thing - I don't think workday has an explicit area for a cover letter, but where you attach your resume, you can actually attach multiple documents. One could be the cover letter. :)
Because this isn't a "must have X years of Y tech + Z degree" job description, it would really help me to hear in a cover letter what piques your interest or excites you about the role. So please try to include one...if only just to spite workday :p
Thanks for your perseverance! I will definitely have some feedback for the recruiting team on this software.
OK ANOTHER WORKDAY UPDATE - you can only attach one file when it asks for a resume, but later when you get to the "enter your resume information into boxes" section, you can upload more files.
For transparency’s sake: I can hire at any level for this role, so the salary band will depend on what level you come in at. Bands also vary by location.

We can figure out what level makes sense for you to come in (with input from the recruiter) when we get to the offer stage.
