Thank you for your kind attention. Here are a few things that could help -
(1) Check .@SaveH4EADs for more stories from the community and efforts to #SaveH4EAD
(2) Need help to spread more awareness of this very important issue on twitter and otherwise
(3) This issue has broad bipartisan support from Congress - a few months back a letter of support from .@RepJayapal .@RepMiaLove and signed by 130+ members of Congress was sent to DHS/USCIS in support to #SaveH4EAD
(4) There have been many other such support letters sent from Congressmen/women and Senators sent to DHS/USCIS. More recently from .@SenKamalaHarris and .@SenGillibrand
(5) This issue also has industry wide support with many business leaders writing to urge DHS/USCIS to not rescind this program.
(6) There has been research/surveys on benefits of high skill immigration in general and this program H4EAD in particular to the economy
(7) This program and its potential rescission disproportionately impacts women, especially from India, who are spouses of high skill immigrants & are well educated and qualified themselves. Some surveys indicate >96% with bachelors out of which ~60% have masters or higher
(8) It is important to note that this program is NOT for anyone on a H4 visa (dependent spouse visa for H1B). It is ONLY for those who have applied, passed all requirements and have approved green card petitions but are stuck in decades long greencard backlogs
(9) Now to the rootcause & why this program was needed and brought in 2015. It because of greencard backlogs for employment categories which runs into decades for folks born in India/China. For someone from India applying today in EB2 wait is 151 years from .@CatoInstitute
(10) Reason for extra ordinary backlogs is due to arbitrary 7% annual country limits which puts populous countries at disadvantage. Employment based immigration should be based on skills, qualifications & not where one was born.
