How to PROPERLY test your products on Facebook:

~A THREAD~
WARNING:

This thread will contain ACTIONABLE advice. No motivation, no fluff. Just step by step advice for you to implement.

My business partner @8MichaelKing and I have gone back and laughed at our old ad sets because we did everything wrong.

Learn from our mistakes.
So you’ve watched the YouTube videos.

You’ve bought the courses.

You’ve found your favorite Shopify gurus and you’ve used their methods

But you can’t seem to find a profitable product, or test in the most efficient way.
The fact of the matter is, a lot of gurus on YouTube don’t know Facebook ads as well as they’d like you to think.

Don’t get me wrong, there’s tons of correct and valuable information to be found

But not everything you consume on the internet is correct *shocker*

Let’s begin:
Product photos.

Can’t harp on this enough, separate yourself from the pack.

Do NOT use an aliexpress image.

Find your product on Amazon, order it to your house and take pictures.
Don’t want to do that?

Take the aliexpress image and use a reverse image google search.

Depending on the product, you can find it on Instagram and make some edits.
The Facebook algorithm THRIVES when you give it variation to work with.

Multiple creatives.

Multiple angles of copy.
When testing a new product, I outsource 2 video ads and make 2 picture ads myself.

I write 4 different angles of copy for each product that I’m testing.

4 total ads, 4 angles, 16 total permutations.
Why video ads?

Video ads are HUGE because they’re entertaining (if done well) and garner high engagement

But above all..

You can quickly create a 95% video views lookalike audience which is where you can really start seeing profitable ad sets consistently
Next, cold interest targeting.

Use audience insights to find 10 cold interests and make 10 ad sets from them.

Don’t be scared of big audiences. Facebook will optimize and find your ideal buyer within the audience.
DO NOT flex target. Flex targeting is you assuming you know who your buyer is better than Facebook does on their own platform. You don’t, let the algorithm do the heavy lifting.
What should you optimize for?

Purchase. Purchase. Purchase.

If you don’t, you’ll tune your pixel to be targeting window shoppers.
I used to run my ads until I got 100 VCs, then would make a lookalike and optimize for ATC.

Then at 100 ATCs I’d make a lookalike and optimize for purchase.

Fuck that noise. Pay for the higher quality traffic and go purchase.
Lastly, don’t give up.

@8MichaelKing and I were on our 5th stores before seeing success.

My dude @DannyRoars kept trying after failing on his first store and is now doing $12k months.
I learned a whole lot about how to properly run ads from @RyanHolmerr’s course.

I highly recommend it, he’s the resident expert.
