How to Cold Email PROPERLY:

~A THREAD~
Are you starting your own marketing agency?

Maybe you’ve taken @ECOMMANDY’s freelancing course and are trying to add a new client.

Regardless, cold outreach is pivotal and EVERYONE messes it up.
I work in enterprise tech sales at a Fortune 500 company and deal with C-level executives of billion dollar companies every single day.

This thread is designed to teach you how to properly cold email prospects and create a warm lead.
1) Keep your introduction brief, and personalize it.

DO NOT begin an email talking about yourself. Your prospect does not give a flying fuck about you or the company that you own or work for.

They only care about how you can help them.
Ex:

Hi David,

I saw that your dental practice was recently ranked #1 in Chicago Dental Magazine, congratulations!

Vs:

Hi David,

I work at “noonegivesafuck” company and we run social media ads for local dentists in the Chicago area, I would love to set up a call and chat!
First email focuses on your prospect, the second one on you. Your prospect doesn’t care who you are unless you’re providing value.

Is this a bit fluffy? Sure, but it strokes your prospects ego which you can never underestimate.

Most importantly, you’ll have their attention.
Next it’s time to let your prospect know why you’re reaching out, provide value, and give your prospect a reason to engage with you.
“I’m reaching out because my company has helped dental practices similar to yours generate 300 leads/month with social media marketing. A few of our clients are xx, xx, xx.”
In the above message you’re being direct, letting them know what you have to offer, and letting them know who else you’ve helped to establish credibility.

Why is this important?

The same reason reviews work well on Amazon. Social proof and credibility is established.
Finally, it’s time for the close.

“Are you currently utilizing social media marketing to generate leads like this? If not, would you find value in a 10-15 minute phone call to discuss your business and briefly chat about how we’ve helped our other clients similar to yours?”
“If so, I have the following availabilities next week:

1/8/19: 11:00am - 2:00pm
1/9/19: 1:00pm - 4:00pm

Let me know which works best for you.

Thanks in advance,

Ryan”
So what did we do here in our close?

1) Asked them if they’re currently utilizing services like ours. If they’re not, they’ll ask themselves why they’re not.

2) Asking for a meeting in a way that reframes the meeting to provide them
3) Giving times for a meeting. If you ask someone are you free for a meeting it’s a yes/no question which they’re more likely to decline than accept.

Always give availabilities and let your prospect feel as if they’re choosing when they’ll meet with you.
4) Signing out with “Thanks in advance” is ASSUMING the close.

This is fucking powerful.
