1/5 .@uklabour JVL are approaching their members to conduct Labour ‘antisemitism training’. But JVL deny that antisemitism is an issue in the Labour Party

The idea of the antisemites of JVL guiding this institutionally antisemitic Party is obscene...
2/5 JVL have sent this communication out to all members. The example we have shown shows it was received by non-Jewish JVL member Colin O’Driscoll, who said:

- a Holocaust denier wasn’t antisemitic
- he won’t report antisemitism
3/5 The JVL ‘training group’ mentioned at the end of the email includes Steven Allen. We’ve previously featured him for accusing Margaret Hodge of fabricating antisemitism as part of a plot. He also misunderstands the basics of Jewish life
4/5 The email is sent from JVL leader Mike Cushman, who’s known for his antisemitic conspiracy theories. It’s sent from his @LSEnews work address. The email is signed off by fellow JVL leader Richard Kuper
5/5 JVL are a tiny group of antisemites, widely reviled by the Jewish community. It appears Labour are using this group to legitimise the Jew-hate within the Labour Party. It’s an insult that Jeremy Corbyn calls them a ‘Jewish voice’ and ‘good people’

2/3 She is a huge fan of JVL. That’s because they exist to provide cover for Labour antisemites just like her. People like Anna are members of JVL.

Holocaust denial in the Labour Party? John Pocock, who says he's a @UKLabour member in Rossendale & Darwen, reckons that the only #antisemitism in the party comes from its Jewish members. /1
He wrote that in response to one of those 'show me the evidence' posts, so popular last summer, where Labour members express their puzzlement or cynicism about the motives of those raising concerns about antisemitism in the party. /2
Most comments followed the usual pattern of bewilderment, denialism and conspiracy theories - orchestrated claptrap, criticising Israel isn't antisemitic, etc. John Pocock's contribution seemed to go further but still earned seven 'likes', including from the original poster. /3

I served my country. I saw the horrors war and I was scarred. I saw hate and fear in equal measure. I find it harder since my service to maintain my anger. I react inappropriately at times to the mildest of criticism. I have sought counselling but keep reliving the past.
I never judged someone by their religion, ethnicity, colour or gender. When someone was dying, injured or in distress I reached out to help. It was what I had signed up for it was what I trained for. I thought it would make a difference.
It did make a difference. It changed me it left me damaged because I could not being the suffering to an end. Today the UK feels like the War Zone I left behind. Division, distrust and hate seep from every sinew of our society.

Asa Winstanley's piece about "fake Labour accounts" that push #antisemitism to discredit the party has been widely shared. I don't doubt that goes on and state actors are most likely involved, but Asa's article seems to be a big hit with people who actually do hold a/s views. /1
These people, many Labour members, seem oblivious to the irony of blaming anonymous trolls, presumably acting on behalf of Israel or the Tories, for spreading antisemitic poison that they themselves regularly promote. One such character is Charles Chiverton of Mansfield CLP. /2
Like his fellow Mansfield CLP comrades Jeff Bowler and Roland Laycock, whose antisemitism I highlighted yesterday, Charles Chiverton believes the concerns about antisemitism in the Labour Party are largely a smear campaign to undermine pro-Corbyn and pro-Palestinian activists. /3

Mansfield CLP member Roland Laycock insists that we have no problem with #antisemitism in @UKLabour. He reckons it's just a smear campaign and believes that the Jewish people raising concerns about it never criticise austerity or Tory policies. /1
Roland Laycock is keen to promote the Labour Party, which, as a fellow activist myself, isn't something I would normally criticise. He supports the #PeoplesVote campaign and signed the letter calling for a second referendum on EU membership published in today's Observer. /2
However, I feel that some of Roland Laycock's views run against the values for which our party stands. He is, for example, sceptical the Holocaust affected Jews in the way that's commonly understood. Indeed he thinks Jews started WW2 and that the Germans were its main victims. /3

Challenging #antisemitism can lead to hysterical counter-accusations that others with racist views are happy to endorse. After encountering Charles Harding, a #Labour member in Liverpool, dismissing concerns about a/s on Facebook, I accepted his challenge to provide examples. /1
I didn't have to go far afield to find examples because, despite Charles's friends backing his view that antisemitism is just "made-up bullshit", "fake news", "propaganda", etc, his own timeline is in fact replete with #antisemitic posts. As indeed I pointed out to him ... /2
Charles Harding's posts present Jews as "criminals and liars ... afraid of being criticised" who "control the media", "poison your food", "create social unrest", "fund both sides in wars" and run a "shadow government". His sources include neo-Nazi and Holocaust denial sites. /3

Lots of articles, some useful podcasts from some of the pro-Corbyn commentariat on left antisemitism but three words noticeably absent from the debate. Jewish. Labour. Movement.

Also, the role new-left media has played in fostering an antisemitic culture has been overlooked 2/
Opposing left wing antisemitism means challenging parts of new-left media where anti-Jewish bias is prevalent. There's just no way round this. Some specific examples: The Canary's been on a mission to normalise the Nazi metaphor with Israel. (Really helpful guys, thanks)
