The estate tax exemption was doubled until 2025 under the GOP tax cut law, but, fun fact: The exemption isn't much help for billionaires, who care much more about the *rate*.
I remember back about the 2005-6 timeframe there was a big fight between the merely wealthy - worth tens of millions - and the truly rich - billionaires - over whether to prioritize estate tax rate reduction or exemption hike. A classic K-Street battle.
